Create Your Course

  1. Go to TWEN
  2. Click on the arrow next to Manage Courses
  3. Click on Create Course
  4. Name your course
  5. Select your course topic
  6. Select your semester
  7. Set the registration start and end dates
  8. Click on Create
  9. Click on View Courage Homepage

Post Your Materials

  1. Go to your TWEN course
  2. Click on Course Materials
  3. Hover over the Add button
  4. Select Add an Item from the drop-down menu
  5. Title your document
  6. Click on Browse to select a file to upload
  7. Make sure the Link Citations to Westlaw box is checked
  8. Adjust any desired document settings
  9. Click on Submit

Add Your Students

  1. Go to your TWEN Course
  2. Click on the Manage Course (F)
  3. Select Manage Users
  4. Click the green Add button for Full Participants
  5. Click on the green Add button next to your desired students
  6. Click on the blue Add Pending button

Email Your Students

  1. Go to your TWEN course
  2. Click on E-mail Options 
  3. Select your recipients
  4. Compose your email
  5. Select any attachments you want to send
  6. Click Send E-mail 

Grade Book

Create assignments and quizzes for your class

  • Create an Assignment
  • Grade An Assignment
  • Create a Quiz
  • Grade a Quiz
  • Anonymous Grading

Create an Assignment

  1. Go to your TWEN course
  2. Go to Grade Book
  3. Go to the Grade Book Navigation drop-down menu 
  4. Choose Add an Assignment
  5. Give your assignment a title and description
  6. Set the assignment availability and due date
  7. Upload your assignment
  8. If applicable, select Activate anonymous grading for this assignment
  9. Click on Submit

Grade an Assignment

  1. Go to your TWEN course
  2. Click on Grade Book 
  3. Go to the Grade Book Navigation drop-down menu 
  4. Choose Grade Assignments/Quizzes
  5. From the Select an Assignment/Quiz drop-down menu, choose your assignment
  6. Click on Batch Download to retrieve the assignment submissions
  7. Select your desired assignments
  8. Click on Download Selected

Create a Quiz

  1. Go to your TWEN course
  2. Click on Grade Book
  3. Go to the Grade Book Navigation drop-down menu
  4. Select Add a Quiz
  5. Select New Quiz 
  6. Click Create
  7. Set your quiz properties click Show Advanced Options to add features e.g. (anonymous grading).
  8. Click Create Section to add a section name.
  9. Click Create Question, add your questions and answers.
  10. When finished adding questions, click the Close Window button to the upper-right
  11. Click Submit

Grade a Quiz

  1. Go to your TWEN Course
  2. Click on Grade Book
  3. Go to the Grade Book Navigation drop-down menu
  4. Select Grade Assignments/Quizzes
  5. For multiple choice and true/false quizzes, grades will display under the Grade column.
  6. Click on Release Grades to make the score available to your students.
  7. If your quiz requires manual grading, you will see a link labeled Grade in the Grade column
  8. Review each question and mark the answer as desired
  9. Once grading is complete, students results will be updated

Anonymous Grading

For anonymously graded quizzes:

  1. Go to your TWEN Course
  2. Click on Grade Book
  3. Go the Grade Book Navigation drop-down menu
  4. Select Add a Quiz
  5. Click Show Advanced Options
  6. Scroll to the TWEN Grade Book Options section
  7. Select your anonymous ID preference under Use TWEN anonymous grading.
  8. Click Save and complete your quiz setup.

For anonymously graded assignments:

  1. Go to the Grade Book Navigation drop-down menu
  2. Select Add an Assignment
  3. Scroll to Additional Settings
  4. Select Activate anonymous grading for this assignment,
  5. Choose your anonymous ID preference
  6. Click Submit

 

Course Administration

Manage your users, course features and settings

Manage Features

To access Manage Features:

  1. Go to your TWEN course
  2. Click Manage Features; OR
  3. Click Manage Course (F) and then click Manage Features

To hide, show, or rename features:

  1. From the Manage Features page, click Hide. It will no longer be visible to your students
  2. Click Show to make the feature visible again
  3. Click Rename to change the name of a link
  4. Click Save

To organizing features:

  1. From the Manage Features page, click Organize
  2. Click Move Up or Move Down 
  3. Click Save Changes

Manage Users

To add or remove an administrator or student:

  1. Go to your TWEN course
  2. Click on Manage Course (F)
  3. Select Manage Users
  4. Click the green Add button next to Administrators, Full Participants, or Observers
  5. Click the green Add button next to the names of people you wish to add
  6. Click the blue Add Pending button
  7. To remove an administrator or participant, click on the red Remove button next to their name

To add a guest user (not a professor or student):

  1. Go to your TWEN course
  2. Click on Manage Course (F)
  3. Click on the blue Add Guest button in the upper right-hand corner
  4. Choose the access level for your guest
  5. Enter the guest's email address
  6. Click the blue Add button

Manage Course Settings

  1. Go to your TWEN course
  2. Click Manage Course (F)
  3. Click Course Information
  4. Click on the Course Name box to change the name of the course
  5. Click on the Semester box to change when the course is held
  6. Click on the Registration box to change when students can enter your course and when the course goes inactive
  7. Click on Course Password box to add a password
  8. After making your changes, click Save 

User Trail

  1. Go to your TWEN course
  2. Click on Course Usage under Administrators Only
  3. Select the User Trail tab
  4. Select your desired criteria (course participant, course features, and reporting period)
  5. Click Run Report

Course Usage

  1. Go to your TWEN course
  2. Click on Course Usage under Administrators Only
  3. Select the Course Activity tab
  4. Select your desired criteria (course participant, course features, and reporting period)
  5. Click Run Report or Download Aggregate Report

Sign-Up Sheets

Create a sign-up sheet for appointment times or specific items.

  1. Go to your TWEN course
  2. Click on Sign-Up Sheets
  3. Click on Create Sign-Up Sheet
  4. Select the type of sign-up sheet you would like to create
  5. Select the settings you wish to display and click Continue
  6. Type a name for the sign-up sheet and enter any instructions you want to display with your sign-up sheet
  7. Click Submit

Forums

Create a space for anytime class discussion online.

  1. Go to your TWEN Course
  2. Select Forum
  3. Select Create Forum
  4. Select Forum Options
  5. Select the name of the forum to add a posting
  6. Select Add Topic
  7. Create a subject and include an optional message
  8. Select Post Topic

Polling

Create polls that students can respond to anonymously.

  1. Go to your TWEN Course
  2. Click on Customized Polling
  3. Click on Create a Poll
  4. Set your poll title and select your desired attributes
  5. Click on Save and Add Questions
  6. Type your question and at least two answers
  7. Click Save
  8. If you have additional questions to add, click on Add New Question
  9. When finished with your poll, click on Finish Poll

Live Discussion

Host a live chat session with your students.

  1. Go to Your TWEN Course
  2. Select Live Discussion
  3. Select + Create New Discussion
  4. Add a title and description
  5. Set the Start and End time for the Discussion
  6. Set Password and Moderation Preferences 

Once your Live Discussion has been set up:

  1. Edit a Live Discussion by selecting the yellow Manage icon.
  2. Enter a Live Discussion by Selecting the green Enter Room icon.

After a Live Discussion has concluded:

  1. View the session transcript by selecting the green View Transcript icon 
  2. Archive a transcript by selecting the yellow Archive icon
